Recently, I took C to his first soccer game – Bay FC’s first home game! The crowd was sold out so there was a lot of people… of course some were slightly drunk, some were pushy, but in the end, the overall vibe was happy and positive and welcoming. I saw at least 30 other kids under 2.

It is scary anytime you take a kid into a new environment. You never know if it will be kid friendly or not. Here’s what I looked into before we went to the game and had a successful day out.
- Bag Policy: PayPal Park won’t allow large backpacks, but they make exceptions for baby bags! It was clunky and I would prefer a smaller bag next time.
- Sun and rain protection: this stadium did not allow umbrellas. We brought rain jackets and an additional poncho. We also brought a baseball cap for C. in case the rain started pouring.
- Snacks and drinks: there were no straws, so we needed to bring a sippy cup to prevent spills. In a pinch, we used the thin black bar straws. As for snacks, we did not need the kid’s power bars… there was a Mac n cheese stand.
- Seating: we opted for seats near a staircase and on the weather protected side. As adults, we would not care about either. However, when C needed to stretch his legs I let him walk back and forth on the stair next to us, making sure he was not going up or down.
- Strollers: Strollers are not allowed! Even if I could bring one, I would not. There were too many people and I think someone would have stumbled into it.
It was really fun seeing C take in the crowd, clap when a goal was scored, and dance to the music in the stadium. I think he genuinely had a great time and I would take him back to a game for sure!

Have you taken your baby or toddler to a game? How was your experience?
